- swam over crowds of bat rays and leopard sharks
- ran into a bison on the way to class
- snatched my food away from a scrounging fox
I'm sure that list will only grow.
On a a more normal note, here's a shot of what my dorm room looks like:
It looks pretty plain in the picture, but it's actually really cozy and I love it. I only have one roommate despite the bunk bed, but our room connects to another room with two other girls. We're all getting to be good friends, so it looks like we'll be having some good times.
Our meals are eaten in the dining hall, and the food so far has been spectacular. Considering how much time we spend in the sun and water, it's much appreciated.

Our schedule goes something like this:
7am: Wake up
7:30: breakfast
8:30 Meet at the water front and gear up as per the picture on the right (this includes donning wetsuits, gloves, booties, gloves, mask, weight belt, snorkel, fins, BC's, regulators, and oxygen cylinders)
9-12: Break up into groups of five, which are paired with an instructor. We spend all morning in the water learning diving techniques
12:00: lunch
After lunch, we sometimes get back in the water, sometimes have free time, and sometimes have a lecture- there's not really a set schedule.
As far as today goes, we finished learning skin diving skills, including clearing our snorkels and masks, as well as different kicks and dives we can use with our fins. We also learned a couple of different buddy hauls for emergency situations.
I'm usually a night owl, but the days are so packed/everyone's so tired from being out in the sun and water that most of us hit the sack around 10:00. Funny to think how very much alive the campus back at USC still is while we're getting in bed.
