In two days I'll be leaving to spend the next five months living on Catalina Island. I'll be taking all of my classes on the island, as well as doing a lot of scuba diving. Having never dived before in my life, this should get interesting fairly quickly. Of course, all of this is under the assumption that I won't miserably fail my swim test and I'll actually end up getting certified. I just finished purchasing my 7mm wetsuit (cold water anyone?), so combine that with my diving gloves, booties, hood, mask, fins, and snorkel, it looks like I'm good to go.
As far as expectations go, I literally have none at this point because I have no idea what to expect. I'm stuck on an island with 20 other people, most of whom I don't know, and taking classes that I have zero background knowledge about (think Conservation Genetics). But an adventure is an adventure, so stay posted for updates in the near future!
